Arriving by plane: Düsseldorf Airport is one of the biggest European airports. There is a good connection to the main station by city train (S-Bahn) and from there to the university by underground (line U79 to the final stop "Uni-Ost / Botanischer Garten"= University east / botanical garden). There are several options to go from the airport to the main station. If you are at the terminals you can take the city train (S-Bahn) S11 (to Bergisch-Gladbach). Another option is the connection by sky train to the station "Düsseldorf Flughafen". There you have the chance to go by city train (S-Bahn) S1 (to Solingen) or trains RE 1 (to Aachen), RE 2 (to Düsseldorf Central Station), ERB RE 3 (to Düsseldorf Central Station), RE 5 (to Koblenz), RE 6 (to Köln/Bonn Flughafen) or ABR RE19 (to Düsseldorf Central Station). After having arrived at the central station you have the opportunity to go directly to the University by underground no. U79 (to Düsseldorf Universität Ost / Botanischer Garten) which leaves every 10 minutes below the central station. It takes about 12 minutes to go by underground. You have to step out of the underground at their final stop, "Universität Ost / Botanischer Garten". Having left the underground you must turn left and walk some minutes. After having passed a slight hill please turn left. Just enter the building (25.12) at the main entrance and pass it straight towards the second glass door. Before the door on your right hand side you will find the lecture hall 5G.
Arriving by train:
Düsseldorf main station is connected to all international long-distance train routes. If you want to come directly to
the University, you should take the underground U79 (to Uni-Ost / Botanischer Garten = University east / botanical
garden) which leaves every 10 minutes below the central station. Please step out of the underground at their final
stop "Uni-Ost / Botanischer Garten". Having left the underground you have to turn left and walk some minutes. Just
after having passed a slight hill please turn left. Just enter the building (25.12) at the main entrance and pass it
straight towards the second glass door. Before the door on your right hand side you will find the lecture hall 5G.
Arriving by bus:
You can go to the University with the bus lines 735, 827, 835, 836, 731, M3 and SB 57. It is recommended to get
off at "Universität Mitte" (university centre). There you will just have to pass a slight hill, pass the library at your right
and the small Heinrich-Heine monument at your left. A little bit further, around the corner of the library, you can see
building 25.12. Please enter at the main entrance. Pass it straight towards the second glass door. Before the door
on your right hand side you will find the lecture hall 5G.
Arriving by car from the east:
The university is best reached from "Hildener Kreuz" (Hilden junction) (A 3 / A 46) via Düsseldorf-Süd junction
(Düsseldorf south) (A 46). Leave the A 46 in the tunnel (exit Zentrum / Universität = centre / university). Turn left at
the first traffic lights into Universitätsstrasse which runs through the campus. When you see a small lake on your
left you are almost there. Please take the next car park P1 on your left or P2 (please also have a look at the map).
You enter the back entrance of the building. Take the stairs on the left hand side one level up, then head left and
pass the glass door. On your left hand side there is the lecture hall 5G.
Arriving by car from the west:
The university is best reached from Neuss-Süd junction where the A 46 and A 57 merge. After the Fleher Rhine
bridge take the exit "Bilk / Zentrum / Hafen / Benrath" (Bilk / centre / harbour / Benrath). Stay in the right-hand lane
and follow the signs to "Benrath / Universität"(Benrath / university). Take the exit "D-Himmelgeist", Turn right into
"Universitätsstraße" and turn right again into the second road. Please take car park P1 or P2 (please also have a
look at the map). You enter the back entrance of the building. Take the stairs on the left hand side one level up,
then head left and pass the glass door. On your left hand side you will find the lecture hall 5G.
